A who’s who of hoops, entertainment, football, golf, media and politics wish Tiger Woods well

On Tuesday morning the unimaginable happened again.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff reported a horrific car accident involving Tiger Woods. After waiting for good news about his condition, we heard about surgeries and the insertion of rods, pins and screws.

Although it’s a striking tragedy of significant proportion, Tiger is familiar with setbacks. Earlier incidents that occurred when he was behind the wheel, exposed his infidelity and his struggles with addictive medications.

Woods is also very familiar with comebacks. It seemed like just yesterday that Tiger celebrated his fifth Masters’ victory amid the patrons at Augusta. It was the the sports story of 2019. We all watched, many of us teary-eyed.

Because of who he is and his history of fighting himself off the mat, expectations for Tiger remain high. So, yes, we first root for Tiger’s full recovery which, should it eventuate, will have many looking even further ahead.

Excelling on the course again? It would take a Herculean effort on a treacherous and potentially unreachable trail, even for the most determined and disciplined like Tiger. And who knows what hindrances and impediments he would face. One thing for sure. The journey would be another emotional roller coaster. Lots of difficult days ahead, one way or the other.

One thing for sure, we’ll all be watching.

A who’s who responds:

Support from media, athletes and even an ex-girlfriend poured out after news of the accident:

Rory Mcllroy via @GolfChannel

He’s a human being at the end of the day. And he’s already been through so much. At this stage I think everyone should just be grateful that he’s here, that he’s alive, that his kids haven’t lost their dad. That’s the important thing.

Julian Edelman @Edelman11

Thinking of @TigerWoods this afternoon… prayers this is just the beginning of another major comeback

Skip Bayless @RealSkipBayless

Tiger Woods, a golfer, has suffered more injuries to more body parts than most NFL players I’ve known. If ANYone can come back from today’s horrible leg/ankle injuries, and win again, even another major, it is Tiger Woods. All-time mental/physical toughness. Pulling for him.

Stephen Curry @StephenCurry30

Heal up quickly @TigerWoods! Praying for you and your family. God is in control always. Stay strong

Wishing @TigerWoods a speedy recovery and sending love. His golf record speaks for itself. While the media so often highlights his personal struggles, what stands out to me most from knowing him for many years is his philanthropy, kindness & being such a great friend/father.
