Event Previews

Another inviting television weekend of stuffed and crammed college ball; Highlight, # 2 Baylor at KU!

Announcers for most of these games will broadcast their games remotely.

Scheduling updates? Check out our friends at Eye on Sky and Air Sports

Selection Sunday is two weeks from Sunday. We’re almost there. The NCAA will allow a limited number of fans for the tourney, all of which will be held in Indiana.

Dave Flemming and Sean Farnham team for #1 Gonzaga hosting LMU. Remember when Paul Westhead coached LMU? You’d get whiplashed watching his teams. You blinked and his team would shoot. They ran like a cat. Paul is a Shakespearean scholar. Imagine the prose used for his lip lashing in the locker room at halftime. Paul is 82.

Florida State at North Carolina should be interesting and competitive. Doug Sherman and Cory Alexander are on the call. Cory has an opinion on everything, extraneous and too much. I’d rather dial up FSU’s Gene Deckerhoff on the radio.

#14 Texas at #18 Texas Tech is on the main CBS Network. Carter Blackburn, usually on CBS Sports Network, works with former Providence coach Pete Gillen. You’ll be sure you’re tuned in when you hear a man with the thickest of Brooklyn accents. Gillen is unmistakable, a New Yawka.

#2 Baylor at Kansas merits ESPN’s #1 team and they’ll get it, Dan Shulman and Jay Bilas.

Tom McCarthy continues to do all sports, baseball for the Phillies, football for CBS and Westwood One and basketball too. Tom has Boise State at San Diego State.

Fox’ versatile Kevin Burkhardt has Purdue at Penn State. Kevin is another versatile character who started by selling cars for a New Jersey dealership.

The enthusiastic and throaty voice of the Kansas City Chiefs Mitch Holthus does a few basketball games in the off-season. He has Indiana State at Valparaiso.

Dave Nitz, forever the announcer for Louisiana Tech, will preside over a simulcast of LT’s game against Rice.

Brad Nessler, Voice of the SEC for CSB, has a good one this weekend, Florida at improving Kentucky.

Ted Robinson lives. Haven’t seen his name in a while. Found amidst the classified, so to speak. Ted does San Francisco at Pacific.

Bill Raftery is double-dipping again. At 78, does he still need social security checks? He works with Gus Johnson on Fox Saturday, covering Michigan at Indiana. Sunday, he’s with Ian Eagle and CBS for Iowa at Ohio State.
