NFL

Big couple of NFL Playoffs; Why was Tirico given two games in two days last week? Where was Al Michaels?

The NFL today continues to propel and swim in big dough financially. Its TV ratings are completely overpowering. America loves its football, both NFL and college. Snow storms keep people home, particularly January and February.

LAST WEEKEND, MIKE TIRICO WORKED ON SATURDAY WITH JASON GARRETT AND KAYLEE HARTUNG. SUNDAY, CRIS COLLINSWORTH PARTNERED WITH TIRICO. MAYBE HE THINKS HE’S AT ESPN AGAIN?

HE SHOULD HAVE ENCOURAGED THE NBC EXECS TO USE MICHAELS ON ONE OF THE TWO GAMES

Mike Tirico is well trained and bright. But he can also look somewhat heartless. Al Michaels’ accomplishments on network TV, stretched over five decades. No one has a thicker resume. When he left NBC for Amazon, he was assured post-season games on the major NBC NFL network. True, but the second season, essentially now, he hasn’t been in the play-by-play booth.

As rich and fresh that this weekend will be for the NFL, one thing is inarguable. The audience is set up for a ton of action. Saturday and Sunday which will be flooded with two doubleheaders each day. Between over-the-air, cable and streaming, MNF, essentially on ABC, Amazon and what’s next? There will be a leak somewhere at some point.

For Detroit and Houston in the playoffs, it engages bigger populations, maintaining heavier audiences.
