College Football Week #9: NBC has UNC-Notre Dame and CBS #1 Georgia-Florida; Broadcast notes

College Football Week #9 Broadcast Notes

  • Dancing Mike Tirico, Mr. Ubiquitous, has NBC’s North Carolina at Notre Dame. He’ll be with Drew Brees who was a fun listen on the Manningscast on ESPN Monday. Tirico and Brees will then be in NBC studio for SNF.
  • Talking Herbie, paid by the word, Kirk Herbstreit is with class-act, Chris Fowler, Penn State at Ohio State.
  • Matt Barrie kicks the weekend off for ESPN. He calls the USF-ESU game. Matt is knowledgeable and passionate about college football. He did some local work in Dallas before arriving at ESPN. He’s particularly terrific in the studio.
  • Clay Matvick, a Minnesotan, is assigned an ESPN2 game tonight, Troy at Coastal Carolina
  • John Sadak, now the Cincinnati Reds TV voice, is back fully doing college football on CBS Sports Network.
  • Joe Tessitore still sounds too contrived for me. Not everything needs made-up drama. Joe is good on boxing.
  • Anish Shroff continues to be well prepared. His partner Mike Golic Jr. continues to push himself up.
  • Chris Cotter has been with ESPN for nine years. He’s assigned Miami-Pitt. Canes come in off a good win over NC State. Cotter has spent time on sports talk radio and the Fox Business Network.
  • Longtime, former Washington Wizards telecaster Steve Buckhantz has Elon at James Madison. Good to see Steve’s name on the roster. Well liked in DC.
  • Cory Provus, Twins radio man, is on Pac 12 broadcast, Washington State at Arizona State. Cory is a cousin of legendary Cowboys announcer Brad Sham.
  • Brad Nessler and Gary Danielson will be at the “World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party,” Georgia-Florida, on CBS. The Dogs are number one in America.
  • Dave Pasch now does some NFL radio football for Westwood One. On the TV college side this weekend, he’ll be chronicling Tenn Tech at Oklahoma for ESPN. Brian Gaudin, Minnesota at Northwestern, also has Fox NFL’s Washington at Denver.
  • One of the very best college football broadcast teams, Tim Brando and Texan Spencer Tillman will be on Texas Texas at Oklahoma.
