Week #2 on 20th anniv of 9/11; Full schedule and all TV voices; Brees debuts as analyst doing ND

It’s hard to believe that it’s twenty years since the terrorist attacks. In recognition of the anniversary of 9/11, College GameDay on Saturday, Sept. 11, will include a feature from Gene Wojciechowski on how college football reacted, including personal stories from coaches. The show will also highlight tributes from various college football teams as they commemorate the anniversary.

ESPN says that the announcers for the majority of its college football telecasts this season will be on site.

A couple items covering Toledo at Notre Dame. It veers off the traditional NBC Network and will be seen only on Peackock, NBC’s streaming service. The broadcast will also mark the debut of Drew Brees as an analyst on the broadcasts. Mike Tirico will break him in. Brees will likely do more than just ND at NBC. There’s talk that he’ll succeed Cris Collinsworth on SNF. If so, this ND season will be a warm-up for a Tirico-Brees NFL team next season

CBS’ Brad Nessler and Gary Danielson will call a matchup between two of the service academies, Navy and Air Force, on CBS. These two voices have developed a following covering the most spirited of conferences, the SEC. Nessler took over on play-by-play after Verne Lundquist hung it up. Once the expanded SEC migrates to ESPN, you wonder where Ness and Danielson land. Both, formerly worked for ESPN.

Tim Brando and Spencer Tillman have the nightcap of Fox’ long day of college football. They’ll be at the Coliseum in Los Angeles for Stanford at USC.

Brian Custer, who signed with ESPN after leaving Fox, gets his first ESPN game, South Carolina at ECU. I’m skeptical on how he’ll do but he deserves a fresh start. It all start with learning the game and prepping for the teams he’s covering.

Rece Davis will sit in for Chris Fowler who’s been following the rackets at the US Open. Fowler and Herbie have Iowa at Iowa State.

Bill Roth an icon in the Roanoke, Virginia area where for years he voiced Virginia Tech football and basketball, returns to the Tech campus working the Middle Tennessee game with Eddie Royal.
