There’s the story, which I really hope is true, that NBC and ABC were bidding for the Munich Olympics, and NBC trumpeted its live sports coverage, including New Year’s Day. After ABC won, someone on the committee said to an ABC executive, “Why did NBC keep talking about bowel games? I thought it was very poor taste.”
