NFL Week #14: CBS features Kansas City-Miami; NBC has Pittsburgh-Buffalo; Fox goes with Minn-Bucs

CBS is single and Fox the doubleheader.
Buck and Aikman work Thursday and Sunday.
Catalon and Lofton getting good reviews from the current dean of media critics, Phil Mushnick of the New York Post.
Al Michaels takes Sunday off. Tirico happily fills in. Michaels received a biggie award this week, the Ford Frick which honors exemplary baseball voices. Al spent many of his first 20 years broadcasting, doing baseball. Voices who were honored by both the pro football and baseball Halls: Jack Buck, Dick Enberg, Curt Gowdy, Lindsey Nelson and Michaels. Joe Buck who will be honored next summer by the football Hall was on the ballot. He’s an automatic to the baseball award down the road.
Ian Eagle will do less traveling this winter. He calls Nets games on TV. Word is that all road games will be done remotely.
Harlan continues this winter doing the NBA on Turner.
Joe Davis is assigned an NFL game by Fox this weekend. Smooth as silk but needs more energy for my liking.
Daryl Johnston talks and talks. But Tuesday on the Washington upset over Pittsburgh, Big Ben had a remote chance to pull it out for the Steelers with a Hail Mary. But Johnston gave up on the game instead of thinking like a coach. Instead, he pontificated. partner Burkhardt is excellent.
SI’s Tom Verducci talking about Joe Buck’s baseball this week praised the conciseness of his call. True for football too.
Dick Stockton isn’t working this weekend. It’s worth noting that retired White Sox voice, Hawk Harrelson was interviewed on today’s Frick Award show, He won the Frick last year. Hawk praised Stockton for helping him in his early years. They worked together in the 70s doing the Red Sox.
